Set for Big 12 Championship

will compete in the Big 12 Gymnastics Championship in Norman, Okla.
COLUMBIA,
Mo. –The Mizzou Gymnastics team will travel to Norman, Okla., this
weekend for the 2012 Big 12 Gymnastics Championship. Hosted by OU, the
meet will be held in the Lloyd Noble Center and is scheduled to begin
at 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 24.

Franklin to Have Surgery on Shoulder

Mo. – University of Missouri junior quarterback James Franklin will
undergo surgery to repair his injured right shoulder, and he will miss
the remainder of spring camp, but is expected to be ready for the
beginning of the 2012 season.

Named Newcomer of the Week Again
Updike
has won a weekly Conference award six times this season
COLUMBIA,
Mo. – Freshman Rachel Updike has been named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week
by the Conference office for the sixth time this season on Tuesday
(Feb. 21). She is the only gymnast to earn Newcomer of the week six
times in one season, and one of three gymnasts in the conference to
earn a weekly award six times or more in one season. Updike joins
former Mizzou Gymnast Sarah Shire for the second-most weekly awards in
a year in conference history.

No. 1-ranked Baylor. The Tigers and the Lady Bears will go head-to-head
at 7 p.m. in Waco, Texas. The game will be the Tigers’ first road game
since Nov. 16 when Mizzou took on the St. Louis Billikens.

Franklin ran for two touchdowns and threw for another, and Missouri
easily beat North Carolina 41-24 in the Independence Bowl on Monday
night.

Mo—The Missouri Women’s Basketball team topped Memphis, 58-48 in a
heated contest on Thursday. Senior Christine Flores surpassed the 1,000
point mark, becoming the 30th Tiger to score over 1,000 career
points. The Tigers improved to 9-1 on the season with the
victory, continuing their four game win streak, as Memphis is now 9-3.

21-0 run, an advantage that never dropped below 12 points.

Mo—The 2012 Missouri Gymnastics team came out strong at the annual
Black & Gold Intrasquad meet. The Gold team took the title,
topping
the Black 164.475-163.150. Mary Burke came out on top in the All-Around
with a score of 39.300. Katelyn Trevino and Allie Heizelman also
competed all-around, scoring 38.750 and 38.650, respectively.

Academic All-Big 12 Football team, the league office announced on
Thursday. Of those 134 student-athletes, 16 are members of the Missouri
Football team. The Tigers were one of four teams with double-digit
first team distinctions.

Texas – University of Missouri sophomore tailback Henry Josey
(Angleton, Texas) has been named one of 10 semifinalists for the 2011
Doak Walker Award, which is awarded annually by the PxCSMU Athletic
Forum Board of Directors, and goes to the nation’s top running back.
