Junior Brooke Sharp’s golden goal with 19 seconds remaining in the first overtime gave the University of Florida soccer team a 3-2 OT win over Oklahoma State Friday evening in front of 1,149 at the James G. Pressly Stadium.

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) -- So much for Virginia's vaunted defense shutting down Florida's up-tempo offense.

Even on a day when the Gators couldn't find the basket with their 3-pointers, they had no trouble beating the Cavaliers 71-45 Friday in the NCAA Midwest Regional.



Florida Wins Men’s NCAA Indoor Championship
NAMPA, Idaho – The No. 1 University of Florida men’s track and field team captured its third consecutive NCAA Indoor Championship on Saturday evening at Jacksons Indoor Track to become just the third different program in NCAA history to win three men’s indoor national crowns in a row. The Gators join Arkansas and UTEP as the only programs to accomplish that feat.

UF Coach Thornqvist Previewed Upcoming Riviera/ITA All-American Championships
Thornqvist said that after training for four weeks, he is ready to see how the team performs against good competition at the ITA All-American Championships in California. Thornqvist also discussed the improvement from the freshman to sophomore year-jump of Olivia Janowicz, Alex Cercone and Sofie Oyen. He also said that even though the team won a national title last year, it is looking forward to this year with new goals and making sure it doesn't get satisfied with what it did last year.

UF’s Lauren Embree Talked About Returning to Campus


Embree and her teammates were back on campus together for the first time since capturing the 2011 NCAA Team Championship in a 4-3 thriller against Stanford on the Cardinal home courts.
Embree rallied from a 4-0 deficit in the third set and provided the clinching singles win that helped Florida win the fifth national title in program history.



John Brantley helps prepare new-look Florida Gators for spring football game
GAINESVILLE — Florida senior quarterback John Brantley has spent the past month trying to learn a new offensive system, hold onto his starting job and keep a team-first mentality as he helps mentor young quarterbacks Jeff Driskel and Tyler Murphy.

It's not the situation he envisioned for himself when he took over the starting role last season, but one Brantley has embraced.
UF baseball sets out on 8-game road trip
No. 4 Florida looks to create some separation atop the SEC baseball standings when the Gators visit Mississippi State for a weekend series.
At 7-2 in the league, UF (24-6) is in a four-way log-jam on top of the SEC standings with No. 1 Vanderbilt (27-3), No. 3 South Carolina (23-5) and No. 24 Alabama (21-10).
Florida begins an eight-game road trip today with the opener of a weekend series against Mississippi State (20-9, 4-5 SEC). It’s the Gators’ first visit to Dudy Noble Field since May 5-6, 2006, when the Bulldogs claimed two of the three games.

Jacoby Brissett will sign a letter of intent with the Florida Gators on Monday despite his mother’s preference that he attend the University of Miami. Brissett will go to Florida as a quarterback and also mentioned he may play some college basketball for Florida and head coach Billy Donovan.

Tucker had previously been chosen to Preseason All-America teams by Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

Chris Rainey to play RB and WR in new offense
GAINESVILLE — Although Florida is switching from a spread offense to a pro-style one under Will Muschamp and offensive coordinator Charlie Weis, expect to see one familiar quirk to the Gators' offense this fall.

Chris Rainey, who saw time at running back and wide receiver last season, will be used in a similar role this year.
