Dores drop third straight at Stanford Errors plague Vanderbilt again in loss Palo Alto, Calif. – Vanderbilt dropped the team’s third straight game at third-ranked Stanford Sunday with an 18-5 loss. The
Commodores claimed the team’s first lead of the weekend in the second
inning sending nine men to the plate and scoring four runs. Connor
Harrell’s double ignited the rally with Riley Reynolds’ double scoring
Harrell. Jack Lupo drove in a run with his first hit of the season in
his first start.
George
Barlow, Josh Gattis Added to Vanderbilt Football Staff
NASHVILLE,
Tenn. – George Barlow, a veteran defensive coordinator who served much
of last year as an interim head coach in the Mountain West Conference,
and Josh Gattis, who mentored the nation's most productive receiver in
2011, have joined the Vanderbilt coaching staff...

WINSTON-SALEM,
N.C. (AP) - Zac Stacy ran for 184 yards and three touchdowns and
Vanderbilt became bowl-eligible by beating sluggish Wake Forest 41-7 on
Saturday night.
'Dores
wallop Kentucky, 38-8
The
Commodores (5-5, 2-5 Southeastern Conference) improved to 5-2 at home
under first-year coach James Franklin. They finish the season at
Tennessee and at Wake Forest.
"I don't know what's happened in the past," Franklin said. "We have a
mission and a plan, and today we took steps towards that plan. What we
did at home is important, but you need to win tough games on the road.
That's what this conference is about."

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)-- It may be time to start thinking of Jordan
Rodgers as something other than Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron
Rodgers' little brother.
The Vanderbilt quarterback gave the Commodores just what they've been
looking for -- a little spark and a lot of consistency -- in his first
start, a 44-21 win over Army on Saturday night. He rushed for 96 yards
and a touchdown, threw for another and helped open up the field for Zac
Stacy's career highs of 198 yards rushing and three scores in a 44-21
win over Army on Saturday night.

Baseball
America tabs Dores’ newcomers best in nation
Nashville, Tenn. – Vanderbilt’s recruiting class has been ranked No. 1
in the nation by Baseball America.
The Commodores’ 13-man class consists of 12 freshmen and one junior
college transfer and is headlined by right-handed pitcher Tyler Beede
and catcher Chris Harvey.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP)- The Georgia Bulldogs know how much a win means
to be too choosy about notching any victory.
Aaron Murray threw for a career-high 326 yards and three touchdowns,
and Blair Walsh kicked four field goals as the Georgia Bulldogs held
off Vanderbilt 33-28 for their fifth straight victory Saturday night.

announce 2012 schedule

Nashville, Tenn. – Coming off the school’s first-ever College World
Series appearance last season the Vanderbilt Commodores have a
challenging schedule for 2012.
The Dores open the season at Stanford on February 17-19 against a
Cardinal team that is expected to start the year highly ranked. Hawkins
Field opens another season on February 22 with the Commodores hosting
Oakland in the first of a string of 14 consecutive games in Nashville,
including 13 at The Hawk.

Vanderbilt
posts largest margin of victory over SEC foe since 1971.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Larry Smith ran for a touchdown, and Trey
Wilson returned one of his two interceptions for a 52-yard TD as
Vanderbilt scored 21 straight in the second quarter and beat
Mississippi 30-7 Saturday in making James Franklin the first new
Commodores coach to start 3-0 since World War II.
The win marks Vanderbilt's first 3-0 start since 2008 when the
Commodores won their first bowl since 1955. The Commodores also beat
Mississippi (1-2) in the Southeastern Conference opener for both teams
for their fifth win in seven years in this series.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- James Franklin is bringing a new mindset to
the Vanderbilt Commodores, and he refuses to even let them think about
letting a game slip away as this program has so many times in the past.
Carey Spear kicked a 31-yard field goal with 2:56 left, and the
Commodores rallied from 21-14 down in the fourth quarter and beat the
Connecticut Huskies 24-21 Saturday night for their first winning streak
since 2008.
