After no Buccaneer reached base in the top of the first frame, the Red
and Black got on the board first in the bottom of the canto. Second
baseman Levi Hyams drew a leadoff walk, advanced to second on a wild
pitch, moved over to third on a groundout, and came home on a sacrifice
fly off the bat of shortstop Kyle Farmer.
Chase Vasser has yet to hit the field for any snaps, but with the
defense making it’s well-publicized switch to the 3-4 this coming
season and Rennie Curran making his exit to the NFL, this talented
linebacking prospect could find his way onto the field a lot more this
season.
In his last two years at Chestatee High School in Gainesville, Ga.,
Vasser racked up 279 tackles, including 45 tackles for loss, as well as
17 sacks.

The construction is now nearing completion at this year’s spring
practice, and Bulldog defenders are already seeing the benefits of not
having to learn a new system this time around.
“Everybody is playing faster,” junior cornerback Brandon Boykin said.
“We’ve already been through that year of learning. I feel like as a
defense we need to know everybody is supposed to be — just everybody
knowing every position. I think that when we get that down we’ll have a
complete defense.”
