Arkansas makes history with win over Kentucky
       
The 4,248 fans at Barnhill Arena on Friday night and the many more watching at home witnessed the Arkansas gymnastics team tie its best performance in program history.

The Razorbacks scored a 197.225 to match the program's all-time record in a meet, and defeated No. 23 Kentucky - who scored a 196.700 - in the process. In all, four Arkansas gymnasts set career highs and seven tied a career best on an apparatus.

Arkansas Downs Missouri State

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 15 University of Arkansas swimming and diving team picked up its fourth dual-meet win of the season by defeating Missouri State 203.5-88.5 in Springfield, Mo., on Saturday. The win was highlighted by a Razorback sweep of the 200-yard freestyle and the 3-meter and 1-meter springboards. The Razorbacks picked up wins in 15 of 16 events.
 
 
Arkansas Wins Dual Meet with LSU
       
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Arkansas swimming and diving team won its first SEC dual meet against LSU in Baton Rouge, La., on Saturday 180-120. The team collected wins in 13 of 16 events and recorded its 12th consecutive dual meet win.
 

Arkansas Women and Men Win Titles at Chili Pepper Festival
       
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Led by junior Grace Heymsfield, the No. 9 Arkansas women's cross country team took eight of the top 10 spots and won a sweeping victory at the 2013 Chile Pepper Festival.

FAYETTEVILLE - The No. 25 University of Arkansas swimming and diving team had an eventful fall season that culminated in a No. 25 national ranking and a second-place finish at the Houston Cougar Swimming and Diving Invitational.

   

 

KENTUCKY-ARKANSAS GAME TERMINATED
       
Given the extended weather forecast and out of concern for the health and safety for both teams and fans, the Commissioner, after consultation with both institutions, has terminated the game. For official purposes, the game will conclude with 5:08 remaining in the third quarter with Arkansas winning, 49-7.

 

 

Arkansas defeats Jacksonville State
       
The 10th-ranked University of Arkansas football team defeated Jacksonville State on Saturday inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium 49-24 in front of a crowd of 71,062, the third-largest attendance in school history for a season opener.

Gillespie just misses school record at 5,000m
       
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Making her outdoor season debut, Kristen Gillespie finished just .02 off the school record at 5,000 meter Friday night at the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif. Along with Gillespie, the Razorbacks picked up personal-best performances from Keri Wood at 1,500 meters and Grace Heymsfield in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.

   

   

Arkansas downs Nevada for 10th straight win
       
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas bullpen threw seven shutout innings and allowed just one hit, while the Razorback offense erased an early two-run deficit with 10 straight runs as No. 3 Arkansas defeated Nevada 10-2 on Wednesday night at Baum Stadium.

   

   

No. 4 Arkansas downs Alabama 7-4 to finish sweep
       
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Arkansas offense pounded out 11 hits, while the Razorback bullpen combined to allow just one run in 4.2 innings as No. 4 Arkansas completed a three-game sweep of Alabama with a 7-4 win on Sunday afternoon.

   

 

No. 4 Arkansas outlasts Alabama in 12 innings 
       
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Jake Wise drew a bases loaded walk with two outs in the bottom of the 12th inning to lift No. 4 Arkansas to a 4-3 win over Alabama in the Southeastern Conference opener on Friday night at Baum Stadium.

HOUSTON – DJ Baxendale pitched five strong innings to earn his fourth win of the season as No. 4 Arkansas defeated No. 21 Texas, 7-3, on Sunday afternoon inside Minute Maid Park.

   

   

No. 4 Arkansas opens 2012 season with 11-5 win
       
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The fourth-ranked Arkansas baseball team scored six times in the bottom of the first and cruised to an 11-5 win over Villanova on Friday afternoon in front of 6,317 fans at Baum Stadium.

The Razorbacks got the bats going early, scoring nine runs in the first four innings of the game. The 11 runs put up by Arkansas were the most runs on opening day since the 2005 season when the Razorbacks scored 13 times against Dallas Baptist.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The No. 8 University of Arkansas football team won 31-28 against Vanderbilt on Saturday, taking its fourth straight contest. The game held inside Vanderbilt Stadium was highlighted by a 94-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown from linebacker Jerry Franklin which tied the game at 28-28 early in the fourth quarter. Zach Hocker kicked his third field goal of the game with 6:53 to play to take the lead and give Arkansas the victory.

Razorbacks streak past Auburn in 38-14 win

FAYETTEVILLE - The 10th-ranked University of Arkansas football team earned its fifth win of the year on Saturday night with a 38-14 win over No. 15 Auburn at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

The team rode the coattails of a strong defense that tallied three interceptions and kept the Tigers scoreless after the first quarter. The win was Arkansas’ second straight over a top-15 team and marked the second time in program history UA has recorded two straight wins over top-15 foes. The only other time came in 1999 when the Razorbacks defeated No. 3 Tennessee and No. 12 Mississippi State.

   

Arkansas wins 51-7 over Missouri State

FAYETTEVILLE – The 15th-ranked University of Arkansas football team scored a 51-7 season-opening victory over Missouri State on Saturday inside Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The Razorbacks saw strong performances by UA wide receivers Joe Adams and Jarius Wright. Adams returned two Bear punts for touchdowns, while Wright totaled 108 receiving yards and two touchdown grabs from quarterback Tyler Wilson.

    

   

Arkansas football fall practice begins
 

One of the first things that caught Coach Petrino’s eye was the talent of the group of newcomers for this season.

“It was good to see that freshman group and some of the sophomores,” said Coach Petrino. “I thought we got a lot accomplished, they learned how to practice and it was new to them. The tempo, intensity and the volume was new to them. You can really tell the difference in the guys that were here last year and the brand new guys. I do really feel like it’s a talented group, particularly at the defensive line and the secondary.”

 

Arkansas Gymnastics Ends 18-Meet Losing Streak to Georgia

     

Arkansas has accomplished plenty since launching its gymnastics program in 2003. Consider that the Razorbacks have finished in the Top 10 the past two seasons and made the Super Six (think of it as the gymnastics equivalent of the final weekend of college basketball season) two years ago.

Birch: Razorbacks' Young Pitchers Must Come Up Big Against No. 2 Vanderbilt

All-American junior right-hander Sonny Gray (5-0, 1.34 earned run average) will get the ball Friday night. The Hogs counter with big lefty sophomore Cade Lynch (2-0, 2.70 ERA) and he will have to be sharp because Gray doesn’t give much up to opposing offenses.

Hogs tennis stun No. 4 Notre Dame
 
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The No. 23 Razorback women's tennis team pulled the huge upset of No. 4 Notre Dame on Sunday with a 4-3 victory and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the ITA National Team Indoor Championships, which will be played on Feb. 17-20 in Charlottesville, Va. The win keeps the Razorbacks undefeated on the year at 4-0 and drops Notre Dame to 2-1 for the season. This win is Arkansas' first against a top five team since 2008 when the Hogs defeated No. 2 Georgia in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.

Dey Tuach was tabbed the SEC Male Runner of the Week, the first such selection of his career.
