Arkansas Men, Women Picked To Win 2013 SEC XC Titles
BIRMINGHAM,
Ala. – The University of Arkansas men and women have been predicted to
win the 2013 Southeastern Conference Cross Country Championships, as
decided by a vote of the league’s head coaches. The SEC on Wednesday
released its 2013 Cross Country Preseason Coaches Poll.
Points
for the men's poll were awarded on a 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12 basis
while the women's poll was awarded on a 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-11-12-13
basis. Coaches were not permitted to vote for their own teams.
The
Arkansas men were a unanimous pick to win the 2013 SEC Championship
after capturing their 20th SEC Cross Country Championship in the last
22 years in 2012 and finished 10th at the NCAA Championships. Florida
was predicted to finish second with Missouri third.
The Arkansas
women, who placed second at last year’s SEC Championship and were 18th
at the 2012 NCAA Championships, were selected to win the 2013 crown.
The Razorbacks garnered 11 first-place votes, while Florida was second
with two first-place votes and Vanderbilt was selected third with one
first-place vote.
The 2013 SEC Cross Country Championships are
slated to take place Friday, Nov. 1 at Mark Bostick Golf Course in
Gainesville, Fla.
