Florida's David Triassi Named Academic All-District IV First Team

Senior thrower David Triassi (Jacksonville, Fla.) has been honored on the Academic All-District IV First Team by the Capital One Academic All-America® program, presented by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America), announced Thursday. Triassi is now eligible for the Capital One Academic All-America® ballot.

Triassi graduated cum laude from the University of Florida last spring, earning his Bachelor’s in finance with a 3.88 cumulative GPA. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in entrepreneurship with a 3.83 cumulative GPA.

Triassi is the reigning SEC Indoor Champion in the men’s weight throw (21.59m/70-10) and a First Team All-America in the event in 2013. The Gator senior is second all-time at UF in the weight throw and third in program history in the hammer throw outdoors (61.54m/201-11). Triassi was a member of the 2012 USTFCCCA All-Academic Team as a junior.

Triassi is just the sixth Gator men’s track & field athlete to be honored by the CoSIDA All-Academic program and only the second back-to-back winner in program history alongside Steve Zieminski in 2004 and 2005. Triassi earned a spot on the SEC Freshman Academic Honor Roll in 2010 and SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll in 2011 and 2012.
