No. 4 Texas A&M Welcomes SFA to Blue Bell Park
       
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Following a season-opening series sweep of Illinois-Chicago, the No. 4 Texas A&M baseball team is back in action on Tuesday night when it hosts Stephen F. Austin in a 6:35 p.m. contest on Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.

   

   

No. 13 Aggies Face Oklahoma Tuesday
       
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Looking for its seventh consecutive 20-win season under head coach Gary Blair, the 13th-ranked Texas A&M women’s basketball team takes to the road and faces Oklahoma on Tuesday, Feb. 21. Tipoff between the Aggies and the Sooners is set for 7 p.m. at the Lloyd Noble Center.

   

   

Pineda, Aggies Complete Sweep of UIC with 7-0 Win
       
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Sophomore pitcher Rafael Pineda took a no-hitter into the eighth inning during his first career start Sunday as the No. 5 Texas A&M baseball team completed the season-opening series sweep of Illinois-Chicago with a 7-0 victory on Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.

Aggies Fall in Overtime at Kansas State
       
MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) — Mariah White fought through traffic and banked in a runner with 1.6 seconds left in overtime to lift Kansas State over No. 8 Texas A&M 71-69 on Wednesday night.

 

   

Dumezich and Villarreal Named Preseason All-Conference
       
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M softball junior Mel Dumezich and senior Natalie Villarreal were named to the College Sports Madness Big 12 Softball Preseason All-Conference Team.

COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS (AP) — Sydney Carter made a 3-pointer with 10 seconds left and No. 10 Texas A&M rallied past Southern California 71-70 Sunday, the 47th straight nonconference home win for the defending NCAA champions.

Elonu Leads No. 7 Aggies Past TCU
       
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — Adaora Elonu had 15 points and 12 rebounds to lead No. 8/7 Texas A&M to a 68-53 victory over TCU on Sunday.
 
Tyra White added 15 points and Kelsey Bone scored 10 for the Aggies (7-2) as the defending national champions snapped a two-game skid in the finale of a five-game road trip.

   

   

KEVIN SUMLIN NAMED TEXAS A&M HEAD FOOTBALL COACH
       
COLLEGE STATION, Texas-Kevin Sumlin, one of the brightest and energetic coaches in the country, has been named the Texas A&M head football coach, Aggie Director of Athletics Bill Byrne announced today.

"I am very excited about the opportunity to serve as the head football coach at Texas A&M University," Sumlin said. "Having coached there before, I understand the culture and embrace the commitment by the 12th Man regarding Aggie football. Aggieland is a special place and I look forward to working with the young men in the football program and recruiting the type of players we need to be successful in the SEC."

Texas A&M Falls at No. 2 Connecticut
       
HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Tiffany Hayes and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis each scored 14 points to help second-ranked Connecticut rout No. 8 Texas A&M 81-51 on Tuesday night in the Jimmy V Classic.
Kelly Faris added 13 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Huskies (8-0).

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The No. 3-seeded Texas A&M soccer team ended the season in the NCAA Second Round for the second-straight year after a 1-3 loss to Virginia Tech on Friday at Klöckner Stadium.

   

   

Sixteen Aggies named to Big 12 Academic Football Team
Texas A&M’s Jacob Russell received special recognition for a perfect 4.0 grade point average on the 2011 Academic All-Big 12 Football Team.
       
IRVING, Texas --- Sixteen members of the Texas A&M football team were named to the 2011 Big 12 Academic Football Team, the league office announced.

Highlighting the team for the Aggies was Jacob Russell, a redshirt freshman petroleum engineering major from Sulphur Springs, Texas, who received special commendation for a perfect 4.0 grade point average.

    

Monogue Named Soccer News Net College Boot Finalist
       
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M soccer freshman Kelley Monogue is a finalist for the Soccer News Net College Boot Award, the publication announced today.

    

   

No. 6 Texas A&M Downs UALR, 83-54
       
LITTLE ROCK, ARK. (AP) — Kelsey Bone had 16 points and eight rebounds to lead No. 6 Texas A&M to an 83-54 win over Arkansas-Little Rock on Thursday night.

Texas A&M got off to a slow start, allowing UALR to hit four of its first five shots, including three 3-pointers, and jump to an 11-8 lead. But the Trojans (1-2) made one field goal over the next 6:51 and the Aggies took control.

“I’ve never quite experienced what we are experiencing this year, neither as a head coach nor as an assistant. To be as close as we are and then lose a ballgame, four out of our five losses we lost by a total of 14 points, three and a half points a game, to be in the position to win those games numerous times and not take advantage of that I’ve never experienced that before, so there’s a first for everything and I hope I don’t have to go through that again. Aggies Win 12th Big 12 Title
       
SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Senior Megan Majewski’s last-minute goal lifted the second-seeded Texas A&M soccer team to a 1-0 victory and a Big 12 Championship over No. 1 seed Oklahoma State Sunday in the final match of the Big 12 Tournament at Blossom Soccer Stadium.

   

   

Aggies Draw with No. 2 OSU
       
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M soccer team played a hard-fought, 0-0 draw against No. 2 Oklahoma State Sunday at Ellis Field, in front of a national audience on ESPNU.
The game culminated in a defensive battle between the Aggies (12-5-1, 5-1-1 Big 12) and the second-ranked Cowgirls (16-0-2, 5-0-2 Big12). Both teams kept the ball moving at midfield and struggled to complete passes near each goal.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M baseball team’s Maroon & White Series came to a close on Thursday at Blue Bell Park as the Plowboys defeated the Farmers 11-7 to complete a sweep in the three-game series.

COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS – The defending national champion Texas A&M women’s basketball team held its first practice on Sunday evening in preparation for the 2011-12 season.

AGGIES PREVAIL WITH ANOTHER HUGE SCORING OUTBURST VS. TECH
       
Texas A&M won its third straight game against the Red Raiders on the strength of another big scoring night. In the three-game winning streak, the Aggies went over 40 points in every game and averaged 46.3 points. A&M’s 45 points tonight were the second-most ever scored by the Aggies in Lubbock, behind only the 52-point outburst in 2009.

Razorbacks rally from 18 down to beat Aggies 42-38
       
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Tyler Wilson, Jarius Wright and the No. 18 Arkansas Razorbacks gave No. 14 Texas A&M more than they could handle.

Wilson threw for a school-record 510 yards, Wright caught 13 passes for a school-record 281 yards and the Razorbacks turned an 18-point halftime deficit into a 42-38 victory

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Junior Mel Dumezich plated three runs on an early home run as the Texas A&M softball team defeated Blinn College, 5-1, Tuesday at the Aggie Softball Complex in the Aggies’ first fall game of the season.

Texas A&M to Join Southeastern Conference
     
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.  - The Southeastern Conference Presidents and Chancellors, acting unanimously, announced Sunday that Texas A&M will join the SEC effective July 1, 2012, with competition to begin in all sports for the 2012-13 academic year. The addition of Texas A&M will increase the SEC membership to 13 institutions.

What about the OSU game would you do over if you could? “I’d try to eliminate the third quarter. We played three quarters of pretty good football and one quarter of disastrous football. They had 37 plays and 245 yards, we had 11 plays and 3 turnovers. I don’t think I’ve ever experienced anything like that in my entire coaching career.

   

    

Skelton Nets TDS Team of the Week Honors
       
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas A&M soccer junior Nora Skelton was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com Team of the Week, the publication announced today.

A native of Austin, Texas, Skelton had an outstanding weekend at home with the Aggies. The forward scored three goals and added an assist as No. 17 A&M went 2-0 against Iowa State and Loyola-Chicago at Ellis Field.

   

   
Softball Starts Fall Season Tomorrow
 
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Head coach Jo Evans and the Texas A&M softball team begin their fall exhibition season tomorrow as they host Blinn College in a 6 p.m. game at the Aggie Softball Complex. The game will be free to the public.
