Ole Miss Cross Country Heads To Louisville
OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole
Miss men’s and women’s cross country teams will resume competition this
weekend when they travel to Louisville, Ky., for the Greater Louisville
Cross Country Classic.
The women will be led by
senior Logan Waites, who captured the individual title at both the
Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic and the Delaware Invitational.
The women’s team also won the team title at the first two races of the
season and enters Saturday’s meet ranked No. 13 in the South Region in
the most recent U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches
Association poll.
The men, led by senior Martin
Kirui and sophomore Kipchirchir Kiptoo, will enter the meet ranked No.
8 in the South Region in this week’s USTFCCCA poll.
The
meet will be held at the traditionally fast course at E.P. Tom Sawyer
Park in Louisville, which has annually played host to the NCAA
Southeast Regional. In 2012, the course will host the NCAA Cross
Country Championship for the first time.
The
Greater Louisville Classic annually features some of the best teams
from the Southeast and Midwest regions, including the host school, the
University of Louisville. Several Southeastern Conference schools
will participate in the meet, including Alabama, Kentucky and
Vanderbilt.
