Ole Miss Picks Up JUCO QB Bo Wallace
OXFORD,
Miss. – Ole Miss head football coach Hugh Freeze continues his hot
start on the recruiting trail, receiving a national letter of intent
Thursday from Bo Wallace, a quarterback from East Mississippi Community
College. The 6-foot-5, 210-pounder will enroll at Ole Miss
for the spring semester and begin competing in the 2012 season with
three years of eligibility remaining. “It shows the
momentum we are gaining in recruiting to sign a player as highly sought
after as Bo,” Freeze said. “Bo and I have a relationship that goes back
several years. It’s exciting to see how far he has come as a player and
person, and I’m looking forward to getting him on campus.” In
2010, Freeze was the offensive coordinator/QBs coach at Arkansas State,
and Wallace was a freshman for the Red Wolves. Wallace redshirted that
season before embarking on a record-setting season at East Mississippi. Wallace
led EMCC to a 12-0 record and the 2011 NJCAA national championship
while setting NJCAA single-season records for passing yards (4,604),
total yards (4,810) and touchdown passes (53). The First Team
All-American became the first freshman to win National Offensive Player
of the Year honors since 2004. Wallace also experienced
success at the prep level, leading Giles High School to a state title
and a 14-game winning streak. The Tennessean 2009 Player of the Year,
Wallace established a state record for total offense (4,195) and
finished top-five in state history in total touchdowns (47), passing
touchdowns (37) and passing yards (3,287) as a senior. He
finished his career with 8,778 yards of total offense and 6,395 passing
yards, which ranked fifth and seventh all-time in the state,
respectively.
