Rebel Relief Project To Assist Storm-Stricken Areas
OXFORD, Miss. – Rebel fans and Oxford area residents will have
the opportunity to donate household and clothing items for the Rebel
Relief Project on Sunday, July 10.
Coordinated by the Ole Miss athletics department, the Rebel Relief
Project will be held from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. on July 10 at the Walmart in
Oxford.
The Ole Miss football equipment truck will be on location as Ole Miss
Ladies’ Football Forum volunteers accept donations for relief
efforts in Smithville, Miss., and surrounding areas that were hit hard
by tornadoes in April. People are asked to specifically donate items
from the list of needs, which includes a variety of household, personal
and clothing items.
“There is so much work still left to do in the recovery efforts
for Smithville and the surrounding areas,” said Chyna Ward-Poley,
coordinator of the Ladies’ Football Forum group that started the
Rebel Relief Project idea. “These places in our own state were
hit so hard, and we want to show them however we can that we care and
we have not forgotten them.”
Local radio stations 102.1 KBUD “Reb Sports Radio” and 93.7
WQLJ will be broadcasting live on location, as well.
The donations will be delivered to Smithville by Ole Miss coaches and
personnel, including head football coach Houston Nutt, on Tuesday, July
19.
