Ole Miss’ Sofie Persson Makes Capital One Academic All-America

Miss. – Ole Miss’ Sofie Persson has been selected as a 2011
Capital One Academic All-American in women’s track & field,
the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced
Wednesday.
Persson nabs first-team Academic All-America honors one day after
fellow Rebels Lee Ellis Moore and Barnabas Kirui were also tabbed
Academic All-Americans. Persson was also a Capital One Academic
All-District first team selection in 2010.
The Helsingborg, Sweden native graduated in May with a bachelor's
degree in marketing. She compiled a 3.83 cumulative GPA and was
recognized this year as the top marketing student in the University of
Mississippi’s business school.
On the track, Persson was a 2011 NCAA Indoor All-American in the 800
meters after placing third at the NCAA Indoor Championships. She
competed in the 400 meter hurdles and anchored the Rebels’ 4x400
meter relay team at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor Championships. Her
illustrious Rebel career also included Indoor All-America honors in
2010, All-SEC accolades in 2009 and SEC All-Freshman recognition in
2008.
