Ole Miss’ Joe David Shoots 72 In First Round At Patriot All-America

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. – Ole Miss men’s golf senior Joe David shot a 1-over 72 in the first round of the Patriot All-America Invitational here Wednesday at the Wigwam Golf Club and stands in a tie for 19th.

David began his round on the 10th hole of the par 71, 7006 yard golf Course.  The senior from Madison, Tenn., birdied his first hole but then back-to-back bogeys on 15 and 16 left him at +1 through nine.   David carded three birdies on his back nine and was 1-under through 16 holes.  Unfortunately a double-bogey on No. 8 (his 17th hole) left him at 72, but shot five shots back of the leader.

Florida State senior Brooks Koepka shot a 4-under 67, and Texas A&M sophomore Johannes Veerman posted a 3-under 68.  Six players are at 2-under, four at 1-under and six at even par.

David is playing in honor of Army 1st Sergeant Michael J. Bordelon (Morgan City, La.) who died in 2005 from injuries sustained April 23, 2005, in Mosul, Iraq.
