REBEL JOE DAVID SELECTED TO INAUGURAL PATRIOT ALL-AMERICA INVITATIONAL
PHOENIX,
Ariz. – Ole Miss men’s golf senior Joe David enjoyed an excellent start
to his final campaign this fall, and was rewarded with selection to the
inaugural Patriot All-America Invitational to be played Dec. 28-30 at
the Wigwam Golf Club in Litchfield Park, Ariz. The
elite field will feature 84 of the top collegiate golfers from across
the nation, and includes 21 of the world’s top-100 ranked amateurs. David,
a native of Madison, Tenn., finished the fall with 70.79 stroke average
which ranks second in the SEC. He posted three top-five and four
top-10 finishes in five events. David tallied eight rounds in the
60s and 10 of his 14 rounds were at or under par. “Joe
has played very well this fall, and I am excited that he received this
invitation,” head coach Ernest Ross said. “He is improving each
season and on par for an All-American year.” The
Wigwam Golf Club, along with the Arizona Golf Association (AGA) and the
Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA), is partnering with the
Folds of Honor Foundation to host this event. There
will be an opening ceremony Tuesday, Dec. 27 with former PGA TOUR
player and current Golf Channel analyst Brandel Chamblee serving as the
emcee for the event, which will feature speeches from various
dignitaries, including representatives from the offices of Governor Jan
Brewer and Senator John McCain, Jerry Colangelo and Folds of Honor
representative Major Ed Pulido. The ceremony also
will include parachute landings by the Wings of Blue Parachute Team and
an LAFB F-16 flyover, along with introductions of players in the
field. To show support for Folds of Honor, each golfer will carry
a commemorative PING golf bag bearing the name of a fallen soldier from
the community in which they live or attend school.
