Rebel Golfer Haley Millsap Runs Away With Hardee’s Collegiate Holiday Classic

PENSACOLA, Fla. – In college golf, in between the fall and spring seasons, there are a few tournaments that players can play in to stay in a competitive mode during the break.  Ole Miss senior Haley Millsap definitely had her game on, as she captured the Hardee’s Collegiate Holiday Classic Friday at the Perdido Bay Golf Club, finishing the three-day tournament with a 71-71-72—214.

Millsap ran away from the field with consecutive 71s and then was steady in the final round with a 72 to win by 11.  Teammate Haley Sanders was the closest to Millsap, posting a 73-75-77—225 to finish runner-up.

“It was fun.  I’ve grown up playing on that course since I was six years old,” said Millsap who is from nearby Pace, Fla. “I had been able to practice on it since I got home for the semester break.  I was excited going into the tournament because I felt like my game was in a good place. It’s nice to see the hard work pay off.”

Millsap will celebrate her win these next couple days and then the break is over as she heads back to Oxford next week.

“I am going to winter intersession so I can graduate in May,” she said.  Millsap owns an impressive 3.84 grade point average in Hospitality Management.

Fellow senior Ashley Lance is competing in the Dixie Amateur Championship this weekend at Heron Bay in Coral Springs, Fla.   The Franklin, Tenn., native shot a 74 in the first round Friday.  Lance earned a top 10 finish at this event last year.
