Four Tiger Sprinters Advance to Friday Quarters
GREENSBORO, N.C. - Four
Auburn sprinters advanced to Friday finals in the 100 meters with
performances on Friday at the 2013 NCAA East Preliminary Round in Aggie
Stadium on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University.
"Everything
went great for the sprinters today," Auburn track and field head coach
Ralph Spry said. "They all advanced to the next round and looked pretty
solid. We are glad to get off to a good start and are going to try and
keep it going tomorrow. I'm excited about the results."
Kai
Selvon ran a seasonal best of 11.40 to finish second in the fifth heat
of the women's 100 meters on Thursday. The performance advanced her to
Friday's quarterfinals at 5:30 p.m. CT.
In the men's 100 meters,
Auburn will have three men running for spots in Eugene. Senior Harry
Adams won his heat in 10.22 to seal his spot, while teammate Jeremy
Hardy was third in the same race in 10.37.
In the final heat,
junior Keenan Brock ran a seasonal-best 10.31 to place second and earn
his spot in Friday's quarterfinal sections which begin at 5:45 p.m. CT.
Niklas
Buhner finished eighth in the third heat of the men's 1500m in 3:50.02.
The junior was 31st overall and did not advance to Saturday's
quarterfinal.
