RENWICK NAMED ALL-AMERICA SCHOLAR

Tennessee’s Darren Renwick has been named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar for 2011 by the Golf Coaches Association of America, it was announced Wednesday.

Renwick, who just completed his junior season with the Vols, previously was named to the Academic All-SEC squad for the second time in two eligible seasons. The logistics major compiled a 74.69 stroke average for 36 competitive rounds this year, with eight rounds of par or better and one top-10 finish.

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70 percent of his team’s competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke average under 76.0, and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient also must be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

A native of Worthing, England, Renwick was part of the men’s golf squad that turned in UT’s top spring semester grade-point average. The men’s team GPA of 3.41 led all nine UT varsity squads.
