RENWICK NAMED ALL-AMERICA SCHOLAR
Tennessee’s
Darren Renwick has been named a Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America
Scholar for 2011 by the Golf Coaches Association of America, it was
announced Wednesday.
Renwick, who just completed his junior season with the Vols, previously
was named to the Academic All-SEC squad for the second time in two
eligible seasons. The logistics major compiled a 74.69 stroke average
for 36 competitive rounds this year, with eight rounds of par or better
and one top-10 finish.
To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status, an
individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least
two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70 percent of
his team’s competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA
Championships, have a stroke average under 76.0, and maintain a minimum
cumulative grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient also must be of high
moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
A native of Worthing, England, Renwick was part of the men’s golf
squad that turned in UT’s top spring semester grade-point
average. The men’s team GPA of 3.41 led all nine UT varsity
squads.
