USA Diving Winter National Championships and World Cup Trials Coming to Knoxville

The nation’s best divers will compete at the University of Tennessee from December 15-22

        

INDIANAPOLIS – The nation’s best divers are coming to Knoxville. The USA Diving Winter National Championships and World Cup Trials will be held December 15-22, 2011 at the University of Tennessee’s Allan Jones Aquatic Center.
America’s top divers will be competing for 10 national titles as well as the chance to represent the United States in several upcoming international competitions, including the upcoming FINA Diving World Cup in London, the final opportunity for the U.S. to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games. The Winter Nationals also will serve as the last opportunity for divers to qualify for the 2012 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for diving.
Among the divers expected to compete at the national championships are three-time Olympian Troy Dumais, 2011 World silver medalist and 2008 Olympian David Boudia and Olympians Kelci Bryant, Chris Colwill, Justin Dumais, Mary Beth Dunnichay, Thomas Finchum, Haley Ishimatsu and Christina Loukas.
A number of divers from the Tennessee Diving Club and the University of Tennessee also plan to participate, including 2010 national champion Michael Wright, along with Ryan Helms, Tori Lamp, Samuel Smith, Brent Sterling and Jordan Mauney.
National titles will be awarded for both men and women on 1-meter and 3-meter springboard and 10-meter platform, as well as synchronized 3-meter and synchronized 10-meter.
