MSU WOMEN’S HOOPS HEADS TO RENO TO WRAP PRE-SEC SLATE 

      
STARKVILLE, Miss. – Mississippi State will try to claim a tournament title to wrap the non-conference slate as it heads to Reno, Nev., to meet Oklahoma State in Thursday’s opening game of the Peppermill Holiday Classic. Tip for the game is set for 6 p.m. CT.
 
Thursday’s game will be broadcast on WNMQ-FM 103.1. Fans can follow Mississippi State women’s hoops during the season on Twitter (www.twitter.com/mstateWBK) and Facebook (www.facebook.com/mstateWBK).
 
The Lady Bulldogs bring a 9-2 record into the final pre-SEC action of the season. Sharon Fanning-Otis’ squad returns to the court 10 days after a 72-38 win against Louisiana-Lafayette capped a perfect 8-0 home non-conference slate.
 
Senior Diamber Johnson paces the Lady Bulldogs after posting a double-double 14 points and 10 assists against ULL. The Pontotoc, Miss., native, who leads the SEC with 17.9 ppg, needs five assists to reach 300 for her career.
 
Fellow senior Porsha Porter seeks to continue her stellar play. The Chicago native collected 13 points against the Ragin’ Cajuns, giving her a team-best 20.3 ppg over the last three games of the season.
 
Senior Ashley Brown added another outstanding showing against Louisiana-Lafayette, pouring in a game-high 15 points. Since joining the starting lineup, Brown has averaged 9.2 points and rebounds over the last six games.
 
Mississippi State and Oklahoma State will be meeting for the first time. The Cowgirls bring a 7-0 mark into Thursday’s game.
 
OSU has been paced this season by Liz Donohoe, who is averaging 14.6 ppg. Toni Young leads the way on the backboards, pulling down 7.2 rebounds per contest.
