A Look At The Series
The Bulldogs’ matchup with the Aggies will mark the first meeting
between the two since 1966 when MSU claimed a 62-49 victory at the USM
Invitational in Hattiesburg, Miss. The only other outing resulted in
A&M upending Mississippi State, 58-54, in the 1963 Bluebonnet
Tournament in Houston.
While MSU has never faced St. John’s, the Bulldogs are 1-2
against Arizona.
In their last meeting, the Wildcats won 68-64 in the 2004 John R.
Wooden Classic in Anaheim, Calif. However, in the 2000 Bank One Fiesta
Bowl Classic, Mississippi State stunned Arizona in the finals, 75-74.
Their first outing came in 1970 at the Poinsettia Classic in
Greenville, S.C., with the Wildcats claiming a 77-75 victory.
