Mississippi State Announces 2012 Football Schedule
STARKVILLE,
Miss. - For the third time in four years, Mississippi State will play
seven home football games in 2012. The Southeastern Conference released
its full schedule on Wednesday, and the Bulldogs will host league
contests against Auburn, Arkansas, Tennessee and new conference foe
Texas A&M. Mississippi State will travel to Alabama, LSU, Ole Miss
and Kentucky.
"We're happy to announce our full 2012 schedule
and excited to again have seven home games for our great fans,"
Mississippi State Director of Athletics Scott Stricklin said. "The task
of coordinating the scheduling of two additional teams was no small
undertaking, and i want to thank Commissioner Slive and his entire
staff for their tireless work in putting together this schedule."
Mississippi
State's league opener will be against Auburn, as it has been each of
the last three seasons and five of the last seven years. The Bulldogs
next SEC contest will be at Kentucky on Oct. 6, marking only the fifth
time since 1985 that State will play only one league game in September.
The
Bulldogs will continue SEC action against Tennessee on Oct. 13 before
ending the season with five straight league games - at Alabama, vs.
Texas A&M, at LSU, vs. Arkansas and at Ole Miss.
As
previously announced, the Bulldogs will open the 2012 season at home
against in-state foe Jackson State on Sept. 1 and will host South
Alabama on Sept. 22. Middle Tennessee will travel to Starkville for an
Oct. 20 tilt. The lone road non-conference game will be at Troy on
