2012 Women’s Soccer Schedule
Conference slate expands to 13 matches from September 14 to October 25
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The
Southeastern Conference has expanded the women’s soccer league slate to
13 games with the additions of Missouri (Eastern Division) and Texas
A&M (Western Division) with Wednesday's announcement of the 2012
conference schedule.
South Carolina won the final 12-team SEC
Championship last season with a 9-2-0 conference record and will look
to earn their second consecutive divisional and overall title with a
slate that includes seven home matches and six road matches from
September 14 to October 25.
Visiting Stone Stadium in 2012 will
be the impressive slate of Mississippi State (9/14), Missouri (9/16),
Tennessee (10/5), Georgia (10/6), LSU (10/12), Ole Miss (10/14) and
Florida (10/25) in the first season that does away with tradition
travel partners. LSU, Tennessee, Florida and Georgia finished two
through five in the final 2011 SEC standings and highlight the backend
of South Carolina’s schedule with the budding rivalry between the
Gators and Gamecocks set as the regular season finale on Thursday,
October 25 at The Graveyard.
The Gamecocks will travel to Texas
A&M (9/21), Arkansas (9/23), Auburn (9/28), Vanderbilt (9/30),
Kentucky (10/19) and Alabama (10/21) for a road schedule heavy with
four western division teams. The first SEC road trip of the season will
be to league newcomer and perennial power Texas A&M, the 2011 Big
12 conference tournament championship team that has finished in the top
two in the NCAA in average home attendance every season since 2003.
The complete South Carolina schedule and game times will be released at a later date.
