LSU WOMEN’S BASKETBALL MOVES UP IN THE POLLS

        

BATON ROUGE – After opening the season with a pair of wins in the preseason WNIT, the LSU women’s basketball team moved up one spot in each poll this week to No. 14 in the Associated Press Top 25 and No. 16 in the USA Today Coaches poll.

The Lady Tigers (2-0) earned 391 points in the AP poll and 286 points in the Coaches. LSU remains the third highest Southeastern Conference team in the AP Top 25 behind No. 4 Tennessee and No. 7 Kentucky.

The Lady Tigers travel to face Louisville, ranked fifth in the AP and fourth in the Coaches poll, at 6 p.m. CT Thursday in the WNIT semifinals. LSU departs for Louisville on Wednesday afternoon. The contest will not be televised but can be heard on the LSU Sports Radio Network on Talk 107.3 FM in Baton Rouge and to members of the Geaux Zone on www.LSUsports.net/live.

LSU has opened a season with consecutive 80 or more point games for the first time since 2001-02 as the Lady Tigers beat Stephen F. Austin, 86-58, then Saint Joseph’s of the Atlantic 10, 80-64. Junior guard DaShawn Harden earned SEC Player of the Week honors in her weekend debut with a combined 39 points.
