LSU TO HOST ALABAMA AND SOUTH CAROLINA AS SEC UNVEILS 2012 LEAGUE SCHEDULE
BATON
ROUGE – Eight home games, including league contests against Alabama and
South Carolina in Tiger Stadium, highlight LSU’s 2012 football
schedule, the Southeastern Conference announced on Wednesday with the
releasing of next year’s slate for all 14 SEC teams. The
release of next year’s SEC schedule features the addition of Texas
A&M and Missouri to the conference with the Aggies playing in the
western division, while Missouri will reside in the eastern half of the
league. The SEC said that the 2012 schedule is not based
on any other previous or future scheduling formats. The SEC
Athletics Directors will convene in Spring 2012 to begin formulating
scheduling principles for the 2013 season and beyond. “The
SEC transition team and our athletic directors did a great job with
significant logistical challenges in a short time frame in developing
the 2012 football conference schedule,” said SEC Commissioner Mike
Slive. “The ability to come together for the conference is what
makes the SEC so strong and that was evident yet again in this process.” LSU’s
first game against the newest member of the SEC Western Division will
come on Oct. 20 when the Tigers travel to College Station to face the
Aggies. It will mark LSU’s first game in College Station since the 1995
season-opener. LSU will play every team in the SEC Western
Division and will face Florida and South Carolina from the eastern side
of the league. LSU, which had previously announced its
non-conference schedule for 2012, opens next season against North Texas
on Sept. 1 in the first of three straight home games for the Tigers.
LSU hosts Washington on Sept. 8 and Idaho on Sept. 15 before opening
league play on the road against Auburn on Sept. 22. Following
a non-conference home game against Towson University on Sept. 29, the
Tigers travel to Gainesville to face Florida on Oct. 6. LSU’s first SEC
home game comes on Oct. 13 against South Carolina, followed by the
Texas A&M contest in College Station on Oct. 20. After
an open date, LSU hosts Alabama on Nov. 3 in the first of three
straight SEC home games for the Tigers in November. LSU welcomes
Mississippi State to Tiger Stadium on Nov. 10 and Ole Miss a week later
on Nov. 17 before traveling to face Arkansas to close out the regular
season on Nov. 24. It’s anticipated that the Arkansas game will be
played on Friday, Nov. 23 but it won’t be determined until CBS makes
its official selections in January after reviewing the new schedule. The 2012 schedule is subject to change based on television selections. 2012 LSU Football Non-Conference Schedule Sept.
