Martin recognized by NCBWA

Austin Martin was one of 32 standout players named to the National
Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Freshman All-American
Team, the organization announced on Monday.
The
Jacksonville, Fla., native, who was tabbed a Freshman All-American by
Collegiate Baseball Newspaper last week, led Vandy with 20 multi-hit
games and produced two hitting streaks of 10-plus games.
The
leadoff man paced Vanderbilt with a .385 average (10-for-26) in six
NCAA Tournament starts while producing three doubles and five runs
scored. Martin finished the year as the team leader in hits (75), walks
(35) and stolen bases (22).
The Trinity Christian
Academy product ended the season on a 10-game hitting streak, batting
.425 (17-for-40) with 12 runs, eight walks and five doubles during the
stretch. He started all 30 SEC games and led the Dores with a .308
average (36-for-117).
