Monogue Named Soccer News Net College Boot Finalist

STATION, Texas – Texas A&M soccer freshman Kelley Monogue is a
finalist for the Soccer News Net College Boot Award, the publication
announced today.
Monogue (McKinney, Texas) is one of 32 women’s
college players to be selected. The finalists are from six regions and
can also be eligible for the regional player of the year award. Monogue
is joined by three other finalists in the area represented by Dallas
Soccer News, including fellow Big 12 representatives Adrianna Franch
(Oklahoma State) and Courtney Seelhorst (Baylor).
The Aggie
forward is the team’s leading scorer, netting 19 goals for A&M this
season. Monogue currently ranks fifth nationally in total points (47)
and total goals and is 11th in goals per game (0.826) and 12th in
points per game (2.04).
No stranger to big accolades, Monogue is
the 2011 Big 12 Rookie of the Year and and Offensive Player of the
Year, and was named the Big 12 Tournament Offensive Most Outstanding
Player. Monogue was also selected to the All-Big 12 First Team and the
Big 12 All-Newcomer Team. The forward was also named the top freshman
in the country by TopDrawerSoccer.com and has received numerous weekly
awards, both nationally and on the conference level.
Voting for
the award ends Dec. 15. Fans can cast their votes online at
DallasSoccerNews.com, with online votes counting for 40 percent of the
final tally. Voters can cast multiple ballots.
The No. 3 seed
Aggies take on Virginia Tech tomorrow at 3 p.m. CST in Charlottesville,
Va. in the NCAA Second Round. The game will be broadcast on
AggieAthletics.com and 95.1-3 The Zone HD. The winner of the match will
play the victor of the game between Washington State and host school
Virginia on Sunday at noon CST.
