Maroon & White Series Concludes with Plowboy Win

Plowboys defeat Farmers for third consecutive game in annual Maroon & White Series

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Texas A&M baseball team’s Maroon & White Series came to a close on Thursday at Blue Bell Park as the Plowboys defeated the Farmers 11-7 to complete a sweep in the three-game series.

The Plowboys, who took control of the contest with eight runs during the game’s first two innings, scored a total of 11 runs on 13 hits and were led by multi-hit games from Mikey Reynolds, Tyler Naquin, Matt Juengel, Mitchell Nau and Cole Lankford. Lankford, a freshman catcher from Houston, led all hitters with three RBI on the afternoon while Reynolds and Juengel each scored three times in the victory.

On the mound, sophomore lefty Nathan Sorenson picked up the win for the Plowboys in a game that featured a total of eight pitchers.

Texas A&M baseball will open the 2012 season and christen the newly-renovated Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park on Feb. 17-19 when the Aggies welcome Illinois-Chicago to town for a three-game series.
