Aggies to Visit White House
COLLEGE STATION, TEXAS –
The national champion Texas A&M women’s basketball team will be
honored Thursday by President Obama at the White House. The
Aggies earned the honor after clinching their first national title with
an amazing run through the postseason that ended with a 76-70 win over
Notre Dame in the NCAA Championship game. “It’s an honor
to represent Texas A&M at the White House and it’s also a privilege
to represent women’s college basketball and all the young ladies that
dream of winning a national championship and going to the White House,”
head coach Gary Blair said. “We’re taking a contingent of Aggies and
all of us associated will remember this for the rest of our lives.” In
a fun-filled day Thursday, the Aggies plan to tour the U.S. Capitol
with Congressman Bill Flores, meet with Senator John Cornyn, tour the
Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial and White House and attend a
recognition ceremony with President Obama followed by a youth clinic at
the White House basketball court.
