Aggie Baseball Inks Nine Commitments
COLLEGE STATION, Texas -
The Texas A&M Baseball program received certification on National
Letters of Intent and appropriate paperwork for nine newcomers for the
2015 season, including seven of the top high school student-athletes in
the nation head coach Rob Childress announced on Thursday.
“Coach
(Justin) Seely, our recruiting coordinator, did an incredible job of
putting together a very talented class along with the help of Coach
Andy Sawyers,” Childress said. “These young men are not only incredibly
talented but they are also of great character. These nine guys will not
only make an immediate impact on the field in competing in the SEC but
will also make a difference off the field during their time at Texas
A&M.”
Eight of the nine players hail from the state of
Texas, including seven prep standouts. The Texans includes C/UT Cole
Bedford (Deer Park/Deer Park HS); OF Matt Collins (Houston/Memorial
HS); RHP Brigham Hill (Nacogdoches/ Nacogdoches HS); INF/RHP Jake
Jarvis (Spring/Klein Collins HS); OF Blake Kopetsky (Bryan/Rudder
HS/Temple College); RHP Turner Larkins (Arlington/Martin HS); RHP/OF
Corbin Martin (Cypress/Cy-Ranch HS) and RHP Tyler Woodmansee (Buda/Hays
HS). The Aggies also secured Iowa native OF Eric Schenck-Joblinske
(Cedar Falls/Dike-New Hartford HS), a junior college transfer who
played one season at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids.
The
class includes six high school players ranked among the Perfect Game
USA Top 500, including four in the top 200. The group includes Larkins
(72nd), Jarvis (121st), Hill (145th), Bedford (148th), Martin (273rd)
and Collins (291st).
Texas A&M opens its 2014 season on Feb. 14 when the Aggies host Northeastern at Blue Bell Park for a three-game series.
