Scarvelis Tosses Weight Throw Record at UAB Blazer Invite
Redshirt senior thrower
Stamatia Scarvelis topped her own Tennessee program record in the
weight throw to highlight UT's performances Friday at the UAB Blazer
Invite. The Santa Barbara, Calif. native logged a personal-best heave
of 22.54m (73-11.5) to take silver at the meet.
"Overall a good
showing at the meet," said UT director of track & field Beth
Alford-Sullivan. "Several wins, a meet record and an outstanding school
record for Stamatia. We brought a small group to get some work done and
it went great. Now back to work in preparation for Virginia Tech next
week." FIVE PODIUMS: The Vols totaled five podium finishes
on the day, including three event victories for the Big Orange inside
the Birmingham CrossPlex. - Junior thrower Joseph Maxwell

specialist Hannah Jefcoat picked up a win with a personal-best 4.05m
